How fitting...

Yes, I am a "Soccer Mom". I have a nine-year-old son who plays Fall and Spring soccer - recreational, mind you. The coach wants to take the team into a competitive division next Fall, but I have no idea if my son will want to continue playing at that point. Unlike myself or his father, my son is only competitive with things that he knows he can win. If he's playing a game or doing something and starts losing, he quickly loses interest and decides that he doesn't want to play anymore. I've heard that reaction is fairly typical of the age group, but it's still frustrating for a hyper-competitive person like myself.

I digress... What started this ramble was a recent conversation with one of my co-workers. I was walking by her office and she called out, "Hey, Soccer Mom! Where do I order a soccer ball and net to ship to my nephew up in Chicago?" I gave her a couple of ideas and went back to my desk. But, I started thinking about how appropriate my screen name is. I was thinking about changing it last night and then again this morning, but now I think I will keep it. Is it all of who I am? No, but it is part of my identity for now.
