I have a 4th grader...

It's so hard to believe that I have a child in the 4th grade... We went to 'Back to School' night this evening to meet his teacher and listen to her talk (very quickly) about the curriculum for the coming year and how she runs her classroom. She seems like a nice lady, and this is her 18th year teaching, so she has a little experience under her belt.

Kyle's desk is right next to the class fish tank and the theme of the room is race cars. I'm hoping that he has some fun. Right now he's seated with three girls that were in his class last year - all of which he dislikes. There's been no end of griping and drama about that arrangement...

But, we're settling into the new school year and getting a few routines going. He's not happy with the homework that he's had to do and I can't say that I blame him. Most of it is busy work that isn't challenging for him. I tried to explain that they always start the school year out a little slow so the kids can get used to the teacher and vice versa. What does a mother know?

Well, now it's time to finish straightening up the downstairs, start a load of laundry, start the dishwasher, and get ready for bed. I'm sooooooo tired! It must be all of that sleep that I'm not getting...
